Understanding the Terms and Conditions

Before you apply for or accept a credit card we recommend that you always read and understand the card’s Terms & Conditions. Should anyone offer you a credit card application or ask you to sign up for a credit card “on-the-spot” ensure that you have read a copy of the Terms & Conditions before committing to anything. If you do not understand something don’t be afraid to ask for an explanation – don’t assume, always check.

When using the Terms & Conditions to compare credit card products there are a number of factors to consider. For instance, if you are not planning to pay off the outstanding amount each month then you should consider how interest is charged and when, as well as the interest rate itself.

Before finalising your choice of credit card, you will always have at least one opportunity to review, in full, the Terms & Conditions of the credit card. We recommend that you always do this. You will be sent another copy of the Term & Conditions of your credit card with your new credit card, which you should keep in a safe place. We recommend that you also use this opportunity to ensure that you fully understand your responsibilities and obligations.

The Terms & Conditions and the Summary Box will provide you with key guidance when comparing the products on your shortlist.
